Also I was eager to start this project since in later years I had seen the playground environment woesen a bit, kids cursing, conflicts, among other things, and this project presented me with the opportunity to show the younger students how to "behave" in the playground and enjoy it to the fullest.
This project consisted in helping the school staff manage the younger students during their recesses, and unlike most projects that normally end after a short or medium period of time, this project was supposed to continue next year and was divided into 3 phases:
- which consisted in the observation of recesses 3 times a week for 30 minutes, in one of those weeks I would record the more regular activities of the kids and were they took place;
- new observation- also 3 times a week for 30 minutes each day, but this time I would record the preferred activities of the children
- The final step would be intervention in the field, after a meeting with our CAS coordinator, which could come in the form of a soccer championship in Easter break, this final step would last about 2 weeks.
Overall the activity went very well since while I was there, there weren't any events that require my intervention which was very positive and meant that this "conflict" phase was just that, a phase. Unfortunately a meeting was pendent between me and my CAS coordinator to decide on what to do next, however circumstances prevent that meeting from taking place since it was during exam season and a period with a lot of school events, so it was moved to the 1st IB year, however I was falling behind my CAS hours and I began other projects and this one was left a bit forgotten, however to the classes involved I think it was very beneficial since they learned how to play without fighting with each other and I improved my abilities to deal with smaller children (which in the future will be come very handy when I have to deal with my own).
